The L96A1 bolt-action sniper rifle, developed by the fledgling British firearms manufacturer Accuracy International and officially adopted by the British military, was designed by its creator, Malcolm Cooper, a two-time Olympic gold medalist in shooting, whose expertise is incorporated into the L96's distinctive stock and accuracy.
In the 1990s, the AW (Arctic Warfare) series was introduced, boasting durability and operability suitable for use in temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius. Variations were developed to meet the needs of military and police forces around the world, including models with different calibers, folding stocks, and suppressors, and the rifle continues to be used today as a military sniper rifle.
